Should I be hurt my boyfriend of 2 years got me nothing for christmas?

Here is how it went down. We have a long distance relationship. It is strong and trusting however we couldn't afford to see each other for christmas so I went ahead and got gifts 4 him to put in the mail to him when I really knew my money was tight that month. I am a single mother of 2 he is a bacholor living in Cali. He told me he had no money for gifts but he'll get me something later. He has a decent job he did fall into some debt from his marriage years ago but that is better now.
I am not all about material things but I am hurt because he goes out at least 2 or 3xs a week with his buddies dinner and drinks ( the LA scene) and all that money spent could have been spent on at least a card in the mail. Am I right or wrong??? All my friends say it's bs. he shouldve had something for christmas especially since we were not going to be together for the holidays. That's what I'm hurt about he didn't take the time or effort. So I shared with him that it hurt me that he didn't take the time. He said he loves me and says I'm his everything and he would not be hurt if I got him nothing.

I think actions speak louder than words. What do you think? To top it off the next night after we talked he told me he was going out BUT he wasn't going to spend any money they know the owner of the bar.

I then textd him fine be a bachlor don't say I'm your everything then. and I havn't heard from him since. 4 days ago. And no. There is no one else. We have a ton of mutual friends and they would tell me.
I know him. He is a good guy when it comes to that. We are like best friends. He is silent because he is thinking I am getting bitchy over the gift situation that is NOT the reason. I just feel if you love someone you find a way to do special things...like I do for him. I feel I have an argument here. He is waiting for me to say sorry I feel he should.. What do you think.....please help.
you guys have been a great support! Thank you for totally understanding my meaning in all this. Material things are not what this is about but I feel when you love someone you would want to show them by doing nice things for them. It's not like Christmas was a spur of the moment surprize. Even my dad who HATES to shop and is the budget king will plan ahead and get my mom little special things to show his appreciation of their love...

i have had this friend for about 5 years. she is very controlling and insecure with herself. she gives me over the top gifts for birthdays and holidays that r extremely expensive. she is very rude also like if i get a little snappy with her cuz im annoyed she explodes at me telling me how im rude but if she snaps at me and i say something she tells me im over reacting and i need to calm down. she can NEVER be wrong about something even when she is clearly wrong she wont admit it. she always tries to make me jealous about her hanging out with other ppl. she tells me how her school is better than mine.and she tells me how to take pictures of myself like she will say "dont do that face it looks ugly" and she tries to tell me how to design my room.also when she comes to my house she controls the computer and like wont let me touch it but when im at her house she wont even let me get close to her computer. she used to only b like this sometimes but its getting worse. she was my best friend and still kinda is so its hard to get rid of her. also i just changed schools so i dont really have any close friends at my new school yet. so anyway i have to go on vacation with her and i dont no if i can survive!! plz help!! can u tell me what to do to survive the next 4 days!!

I am concerned that he will be very overwhelmed by my cheesy, Christmas over-drive family. His family barely celebrates the holidays at all. With a 15 year old in the house they didn't put up a tree and they do not wrap gifts and generally aren't festive. They are very loving and I love them too but when I asked him about buying gifts for them he got a little testy. They don't want to fuss with it which is fine.

I am bringing him home to Texas (we live in Ca right now) for Christmas and my family is the stark opposite, over-the-top, deck the halls nuts. My mom has already bought him a bunch of stuff and is just going haywire. I tried to prepare him and he got a little flustered and worried that he needed to buy everyone in my family gifts. I tried to explain that he absolutely does not, and that they don't care about receiving gifts at all but I can tell he is a little freaked out. My mom and I used to handmake everything when we were poor. We just love to host and do special things is all. I bought gifts for everyone already and made them from the both of us. Help me to soothe him? I love him so and want it to be a great trip.

Lets put things into perspective.

Now add in Christmas/other holidays, birthdays, graduation, and other special occasion gifts - and your looking at 2 - 5 million dollars a parent will spend on their child, BY THE AGE OF EIGHTEEN.

My boyfriend and I are 29 and bought a home together .

My boyfriend's Mom has been a nightmare. She is an alcoholic and calls 50 times a day sometimes in the wee hours of the night to be picked up from a bar because she has puked in her car. She also calls on the weekends and is relentless for my boyfriend to drop everything he is doing to run her errands. I will also add we pay all our own bills so she is not helping with anything. His Mom is 54 and single.

His Mom will call when we are in the middle of dinner and if my bf doesn't run right over to her house she gets mad and hangs up on him.
On top of this my boyfriend wanted me to go over to his Mom's house for dinner once a week. I have always been very nice to his Mom and would bring her flowers, gifts, cake on her Birthday, etc. When I am at her house or when she is at our house she ignores me and rolls her eyes at me. When she does talk she puts me down and is really quite mean.
I finally told my boyfriend that I didn't want to interfere in the relationship with his Mom and that he should spend time with her just the two of him. My bf has been going over to her house by himself once a week for dinner.

Now the holidays are around the corner and my bf wants me to drive to his step grandmother's house ( that I have met only once) to stay at her home for four days. The problem is his Mom will be there also for four days and his step grandmother lives five hours from us.

I told my bf I would go up by myself early on Thanksgiving to help cook but that I wouldn't feel comfortable being in a house with his Mom for four days when she puts me down. My bf said I can't drive my car in my snow and he is unwilling to go up for just the day and I do not want to go for four days.
Any solutions?
My bf knows how I feel and he has seen his Mom first hand be really mean to me. His Mom hurts my feelings so bad to the point where I feel like I am on the verge of tears.
His Mom doesn't really want me to go and stay for four days but my bf wants me to go and I am not comfortable with it.

In 2005 I hired a lady to clean my home once a week. She did a really good job, but started to get kind of sloppy in year 2. I knew she was not wealthy, but either am I...I am just disabled, collecting disability and need some help with cleaning. I payed her in cash so that she did not have to claim it as income on her taxes. I payed her what she asked, which was a visit and she came 2 times a month. I gave her things occasionally, such as clothing, and occasionally bought her small gifts during the holidays. When she continued doing a rather poor job with her work, I decided to let her go. I called her on the telephone and told her that I would no longer be needing her, but that she could come one final time on her regularly scheduled day, and I would, as a gesture, give her an additional week's pay on top of that. At first she agreed and then called me back and went off on me screaming that I was a terrible person because I never tipped her or gave her a Christmas bonus and that all her other clients did. She declined my offer and hung up on me. I called her back to ask her to return my housekey, which I never recieved, and had to pay 0 to change all the locks in the house. I thought she was way out of line, but dismissed it.

This happened 3 years ago....Fast Forward to present day:

On Sunday I was in Walmart and got in line behind a woman who was giving me very dirty looks...I asked my husband if something had happened, because he walked before me with pushing the cart. He said no, but she looks really strange. She started acting really upset and fussing over her items, muttering under her breath. Then she seems to get upset because the woman ahead of her was taking too long, and she started cursing at the woman. The woman left, giving her the finger. Then as I am watching her, she mouths the words "you are a real bi*ch" to me, and follow it with "I hope you die soon". I am in amazement, because I really, truly and honestly didn't think I knew her and couldn't figure out why she was acting so crazy. I asked her "are you talking to me, do I know you?". She said, "you recognize me, Marisa"...and I recognized her voice and it finally dawned on me that it was my exhousekeeper. She had really changed...looked ill or on drugs (not sure which). I totally ignored her, even when she started yelling "bi*ch" at me. Frankly I was afraid of her. But I was embarassed, and then I got angry at myself for not having the clerk call the police or security, and not saying something back.

Did I handle this the right way? If this happens again (this is a small town), what should I do different?

My friend is having a Yankee Swap (I know, the holidays are over, but it's her party, not mine.) and requested that we bring gifts that are "funny".

One of my friends gave me the idea of having all different types of cream (such as whipped cream, sour cream, shaving cream, heavy cream, cream cheese, cream of wheat & foot cream) in a top hat.

...However, we've got a spending limit. I have an old top hat I can use, but I'd only be able to get a few kinds of cream. Does anyone have any other ideas?

I am traveling 12 hrs away to visit my husbands brother and his family for christmas. Is it just terrible that i cant afford to do that and buy for all of our family(mine and his) that are here that we wont be spending the holidays with. I am feeling kinda bad but we are gonna be celebrating with the bro in law, wifey and 4 kids. I cant afford the expense of the trip plus. am i just worried for nothing?
