Notice how M&D is getting flooded with questions about "What did he get you?" and "Why didn't he get me blah blah blah?". Did your wife FREAK OUT when you didn't get her a box of chocolates, fancy dinner and/or a 2 hour back rub?? Is it just me or do many women(not all) make a mountain out of a mole hill when it comes to this specific "holiday"? Hell, my wife got dinner and that was it. She didn't complain one bit. She doesn't expect some lavish gifts or over the top BS like some of these broads that have posted their whining and crying BS.
EDIT: I understand there are guys out there that don't show any appreciation or love to their SO's. But it's not just these types of women that feel Valentine's Day is "special". I know plenty of other women that have good husbands that provide, are affectionate and do little things to show their appreciation, yet these women STILL look at the "all he got me was" side of things. It just boggles my mind, I guess. It's true, I do make sure my wife understands and knows what she means to me and what she has done for me. So that is why she doesn't complain when V-Day isn't extravagant, but she herself has also said that V-Day is just another in the calendar year. It's an excuse to spend money and to show off about how much they got or how much they spent. Love isn't about a special holidays or presents. Even cards. Yeah they may come close to what you want to express, but they're not your own words. I have never gotten her a V-Day card. My own writting better expresses how I feel.
Hello, im 14 and i would like a answer that shows you have self-respect and intelligence.
Ok, I believe Islam is the only religion that teaches you strength and believe in GOD every single day. I personally don't see a difference in a christian and a atheist. Most christians carry on with there lives everyday as a atheist would. But when a christian in a difficult situation or wants something then they pray to GOD. I see a christians relationship between GOD is more of a Take not a Give-Take situations. This is why Christians have holidays like Christmas which doesn't have to do with GOD but is just a gift giving holiday. A Christian is more to fall into sin-full ways.
As for a true muslim we are constantly reminded of the right things. We pray 5 times a day which is separated in every part of the day. Almost everyday is like a church day for a christian. Most of our holidays teach something. For example Ramadan where we fast for forgiveness for sin, live a day as a poor person, and gain inner strength with some gift along the way.
I compared Christians and Muslim because they have the top 2 religions. Ok so i say Islam is the only religion that teaches faith and worship? Do you agree? if not what religion do you believe teaches that better?
Thank you in advance for your answer.
Ok.
by The Path of Least Bloodshed : I am surround by christians. If you are a devoted christian what do you do different than a so called "lukewarm" christian. Also christmas may be to celebrate jesus birth but it does not express it. What it express is santa claus and trees and gilfs.
Scott B: By strong religion i meant a religion that teachs you right morrows and self strength. Being muslim doesnt control every part of your life its who you are and how you act. It makes you think twice before you do something.
Y: Your statement is unlogical.
David: Islam is a religion of peace. You watch too many tv and let it corupt your brain every try think outside the box??
What?: What a christians does and doesnt says alot of what their religion teaches. And you didnt even tell me why you think islam is not you just made a statement with no facts.
C: WHat do they pray for?
Christ teachs you good things but you can call you self a christian and only go to church on a sunday.

i realize it's the thought that counts, that not everyone celebrates christmas, commercialism of the holidays has taken over the world, it depends on how many children one has, how much money one has available, etc...
but for this particular question, let's say you have one child, they're not spoiled, they're pretty well-behaved and you're married, middle income parents who do believe in buying holiday gifts...how much would you say is an average amount to spend on your teenager this christmas?
I grew up religious, and we did not celebrate any holidays. I am now married, no longer religious, and we celebrate the holidays with my husbands family and our son of corse. Growing up, my mother also pushed thank you cards, so I am used to sending cards out for everything. At christmas time, our son gets so many things, it is hard to keep straight who gave him what. Is it customary to keep track of things to send everyone out a thank you card for christmas gifts?
